Continuing Education

Required CEUs

Licensed respiratory care practitioners must complete twenty (20) continuing education units (CEUs) during every 2 year license renewal period.

The Board automatically accepts for CEUs any course or program approved by the American Association for Respiratory Care or the Arizona Society for Respiratory Care.

Additionally the Board accepts the following for CEUs:

-American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR = 2 CEUs

-American Heart Association NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation) = 8 CEUs

-American Health and Safety Institue (ASHI) CPR PRO = 2 CEUs

-All NBRC Exams are worth 10 CEUs each excepting the CRT Exam

A Photocopy of both the front and back of the card(s) is required as documentation.

American Heart Association ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) will NOT be accepted unless the applicant has a certificate showing the AzSRC has approved the course and indicates the number of credits awarded for that course.

ALL American Red Cross programs must be submitted for approval to the AzSRC before the Board office will accept them.

The Board office does not approve CEU programs.  Programs must be submitted through the AzSRC.  In order to get approval by the AzSRC, contact Pima Medical Institute in Tucson at 520-326-1600 OR visit their website at www.azsrc.org. Since January 01, 2002, programs need to be submitted to the AzSRC for approval within 45 days of completion of the course.

Randomly Audited Licensees

Audit lists are no longer posted to the Board's website. Audits are performed twice yearly. You will receive a letter in the mail if you have been audited. Please keep records of your CEU's for at least two renewal cycles. If you have been audited or have other questions concerning CEU's you may contact the Board office at 602-542-5995.
